Winklevoss Twins on the News
Last weekend my boyfriend & I were flipping through channels looking for a movie to watch because my dvd player is broken. It was about midnight and he had the remote when I yelled, "stop!" at soem news channel. He stopped for a second then continued flipping because he assumed I thought it was something else or was kidding, since I never watch the news. But I made him go back because I had seen the name WInklevoss at the bottom of the screen. It was the Winklevoss twins being interviewed & I was all excited because I had been reading about them in the social network, so we watched the interview for a little while. First of all, I was amazed at how well the casting director did with finding the actor who played them; they looked and acted so similar! Secondly, I thought the interview was very interesting and kind of humorous. The interviewer was asking them about how Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea and they, of course, agreed, and then went on to say how a lot more should have done about it. Then, the interviewer was like well didn't you guys get a ton of money from the lawsuit anyway, so what's your problem? I jut s thought that was hilarious because it seems like their still wining about what happened, they got their money, a lot of money, and the law suit is over; get over it.

Facebook Ads
Three ads that pop up on the side of my facebook are for ESPN, The Packers, and lactose intolerant foods. I'm pretty sure all of these show up because of things I have liked in the past, but it could also be from my wall posts, statuses, and personal information. The Espn one that is up right now say Love Basketball? Which I do. I have liked a few different basketball players and the Chicago Bulls, but I also played basketball all through high school & have probably had information about my facebook on. I also think it is recently popping up because I joined the group for people that were attending the Lakers game on Valentines Day. Their my boyfriend's favorite team so I got us tickets to see them play the Bobcats for Valentines Day : ) I always get adds with pictures or Green Bay Packers merchandise and I always want ALL OF IT but I have no money:( If I did I would totally buy all of it because I LOVE THE PACKERS!! & I think these have been showing up because Every Sunday my Status says GO PACK GO and things like that & I have liked the Green Bay Packer's facebook page & numerous Packer's players. During the playoffs and Superbowl there was always a Packer's add because they knew I would need stuff to wear as I cheered them on in the Superbowl which WE WON! Lastly I get adds for lactose and tolerant products because I liked the lactose and tolerant page because my boyfriend is lactose and tolerant & we always have to work around that when we go out to eat & make food at home. I try not to eat dairy around him because he can't which is sooo difficult because I am from Wisconsin, but it's nice to see adds of crazy new products they are coming up with to mirror dairy products without actually containing dairy. If I had a lot of money I would definitely buy a lot of the stuff I see on those adds because a lot of times it's also cute clothing and shoes.
Possible Argumentative Essay Source
I am thinking about writing on my final Argumentatative Essay on how Facebook weakens or strengthens friendships, I have not decided which one I truly believe yet, but either way this article would be a great source. It is entitled Point: Social Networking Websites Provide a Healthy Way to Improve Friendships. The author of this article begins by talking about the first forms of social networking sites that came before Facebook. She then goes on to talk about how much Facebook has grown over the past three years; after it had opened to all, the majority of its users were in their teens and only eight percent of its users were over the age of thirty. Three years later, thirty percent of all aldult over the age of thirty have Facebook accounts. She talks about how Facebook is a great tool for kids to have because it helps them open up socially; they are not afraid to hide themselves like they may at school or at home. Facebook allows people to create friendships with others who have the same interests. She states that one of the problems are identity theft and sexual predators, but a lot of people are meeting their Facebook friends in person before they add each other which greatly lowers the risk or identity theft & sexual predators. The author also states that it is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family who have moved far away; it plays a significant role in helping people maintain long-distance relationships.
One aspect thart I found interesting was the fact that social networking is affecting media, advertising agencies, corporation, politicians, and education. I already knew this, but it's still hard to wrap my head around the fact that the enitre world basically relies on social networking sites. If you watch ciommercials almost every one has a line at the bottom of the screen saying follow us on Facebook and twitter, even Obama has his own social networking site.
This article is controversial because although it is stating that Facebook is a great tool to maintain and improve friendships, a lot of people will tell you that Facebook ruins friendships and our world's sense of community; it separates us from one another because we don't communicate face to face as often.

I really enjoyed watching The Social Network during class. I had never seen it before, but heard that it was an amazing movie and had been nominated for some big awards. Jessie Eisenberg, the actor who plays Mark Zuckerberg, does a great job portraying Zuckerberg's sarcastic personality. I also liked Justin Timberlake's character, Sean Parker, even though he turned out to be kind of an asshole in the end. Although I really liked the movie, I'm not sure if I would have completely understood everything that was going on if I had not already read the first four chapters of The Facebook Effect. Having read that book prior to watching the movie helped me keep up with what was going on with all the legal and financing issues. If I hadn't read the movie I would have never understood why Eduardo Saverin was so mupset when he flew into California for the Millionth user party and they asked him to sign more contracts.
As far as the book goes, I love reading it. Throughout high school I rarely ever read any of the book sassigned because they were all so boring and pointless, in my mind. This is one of the very few books that I have had to read for school, but enjoy and would probably read it on my own. I find it so interesting how all of this happened so fast to a college student who was MY AGE at the time. I also find it extremely intersting because I can sort of relate to it because my brother is a computer wiz & he is starting up his own internet website with one of his buddies. They are doing pretty well right now & have even been on the news for it. So everytime I talk to Shane, my brother, about how he's doing I'm always like "omg you remind me of Mark Zuckerberg!"

Rhetoric Picture

This picture is basically saying, "cut the crap." It is straight and to the point, and it would take a person with a big imagination to interpret it any differently. The audience can literally be anyone who is full of crap. It could be aimed toward a politician, teacher, student, religious leader, or anyone that the author thinks is trying to spread some ridiculous lie. Dean Brenner is the author of this picture is Dean Brenner who used it in a persuasive communication skills seminar. He states that the first step to becoming a good speaker is to cut the crap and speak with authenticity.

PACKER GAME
On Saturday I drove down to Atlanta to meet my mom for the Packer Falcon game. The game started at 8 and I got to our hotel at around 5:30 with just enough time to get ready, put on my jersey, Packer Santa hat & Green & gold eye make-up, I also painted my nails green & yellow but I did that before I left campus. We took the Marta over to the stadium & it was filled with football fans. We got off near gate D & our tickets were in gate A; therefore, we had to walk around the entire stadium before we found our seats, which were SIX ROWS UP from the field. We were on the 5 yard line by the enzone that Green Bay scored the majority of their touch downs. The game was AMAZING! We killed them 48-21 & by the 3rd quarter almost all of the ATL fans had given up on their team & left. The stands were basically empty compared to what they were at the beginning. The stadium was taken over by green and gold & the "GO PACK GO" cheer could finally be heard loud & clear. As we walked out every single Packer fan I saw would hive five me & we were all going crazy with excitement! The next day I had to be back on campus by 2 because we had a recruit coming in so I left at about 930 & I had plenty of time to get here, but I sped anyway because I always speed & then I got a $445 speeding ticket.... that sucked. But the game was amazing : )
